A Book Author Website Should Do More Than Look Nice
We see the same problems again and again. A beautiful header and then nothing.
A “Books” page with covers but no buy buttons. Most site builders hand you a template and
wish you luck.
A book author website has a real job. It should turn a curious
visitor into a reader, and a reader into a fan who comes back for the next release. So
before we pick a font or a color, we look at the basics.
- Can a stranger tell your genre within five seconds?
- Is your newest book the first thing on the page, or buried under a welcome message?
- How does the site look on a phone with a slow connection?
- Is there one clear reason to join your mailing list, beyond “get updates”?
- If a podcast host or bookstore wants to book you, can they find what they need in two clicks?
If the answer to any of these is “not really,” that’s where we start.
